AI May Quickly Generate Ideas—but Teams of People Are Still More Creative
Humans still write better. Clin Lai and Roger Beaty gave 208 people the alternate uses task: find new uses for a brick or a book, working with another person or with ChatGPT. The ChatGPT group wrote longer answers. The human pairs came up with more creative ideas, and more diverse ones. ChatGPT offered the same clever idea in session after session. The human advantage even grew over time. The verdict is cheerfully collaborative: chat with a person before you chat with AI, because the average answer is never the interesting one.
