About KATZ

KATZ — the Königsberger Allgemeine Technologie Zeitung — tells inspiring, thought-provoking stories that encourage young people to improve themselves and their surroundings.

We cover frontier science, emerging technologies, education and upskilling, and entrepreneurship.

Our readers are the foundations of the Digital Mittelstand: a digital-native, physically decentralized economy that is taking shape today. Every story we publish asks the same question: how does this make people more capable, and what could you build with it?

KATZ dates its founding to 26 August 2025 — 290 years after Leonhard Euler presented the Königsberger Bridges Problem to the St Petersburg Academy, the puzzle that gave birth to graph theory. It is published every Tuesday by the Königsberger Bridges Institute (KBI), and it is the official newspaper of the Virtual City of Königsberg.

What we believe

  • Optimistic, never naive. We report risks honestly, then show who is working on solutions.
  • Knowledge compounds. Small improvements, shared widely, build great things.
  • Anyone can contribute. The best ideas can come from anywhere, at any age.

The Virtual City of Königsberg

The Virtual City of Königsberg is where members of the Digital Mittelstand congregate and collaborate — to compound the value they create and collect.

In the 18th century, Königsberg’s seven bridges posed a puzzle that changed mathematics. Today, the Virtual City builds new bridges: between disciplines, between countries, and between people who make things. The city is being built now, and KATZ is its first institution. Citizenship opens first to KBI alumni and members of KBI initiatives. Until then, every reader is welcome as a guest — and every contributor helps lay its foundations.

How we work

Two editors lead KATZ: the Editor-in-Chief and the webmaster. Our Virtual Contributors help us gather news, draft summaries and seed stories. A human completes every piece, and the Editor-in-Chief approves it before it goes live. Read our standards.
