Amazon Has Launched a Certification for People Who Will Never Write a Line of Code
Amazon has launched a certification for people who will never write a line of code — and that is precisely the point.
AWS announced the Certified AI Business Strategist (AIB-C01) on 1 September, the first exam in a new Business category. It tests whether you can turn AI into business outcomes: spotting opportunities, building the business case and ROI model, governing responsibly, and scaling a pilot into an enterprise programme. Coding, model tuning and AWS services are explicitly out of scope.
The beta opened for delivery on 29 September: 85 questions in 170 minutes, $50 instead of the standard $100, a pass mark of 700 out of 1,000, and an Early Adopter badge for anyone who earns it by 15 February 2027. The certification lasts three years.
Conclusion: AIB-C01 is not a technical exam, but rather a boardroom one — and AWS has finally admitted the boardroom needs its own certificate.
