Google's India accelerator picked 20 AI startups out of 2,500
Google has picked 20 AI-first startups from about 2,500 applications for the 2026 class of its Google for Startups Accelerator in India. The odds, for the record, were roughly one in 125.
The three-month, equity-free programme marks the 10th anniversary of Google’s accelerator programmes, and includes an in-person bootcamp in Bengaluru. The cohort spans legal technology, healthcare radiology, cybersecurity and developer tools, among others: Adalat AI, Aikenist and Zeron are among the names.
The selection is a snapshot of where Indian AI is actually going. Not chatbots for their own sake, but AI applied to courts, clinics, code and security, the unglamorous infrastructure of a working country.
Google takes no equity. The startups keep their companies; Google gets a front-row seat to the next generation.
Conclusion: 20 out of 2,500 is not a lottery, but rather a filter, and the filter says Indian AI has grown up, fast and furious.
