Boise State's alumni took four of ten places at the Startup World Cup
Four of the ten semifinalists at the Startup World Cup regional qualifiers in Boise were Venture College alumni, and the university’s startup programme is quietly becoming a pipeline.
The qualifiers, held 10 July 2025 at Trailhead Boise, featured QTex AI, whose PartWise conversational AI helps engineers find electronic components; TARU Recovery, using AI voice interventions against technology addiction; Flashpoint Building Systems, founded by Nick Stoppello; and Rattler Medical, whose Life Hold container transports blood.
Rattler Medical, founded by Donald Young, went on to win the regional and take the ticket to the San Francisco finals on 17 October, where a $1 million prize awaited.
Four out of ten is not a coincidence. It is a system working, one founder at a time.
Conclusion: Boise State is not producing startups by accident, but rather by design, and the design is starting to show.
