IUT's EV CHARGESHARE Wins Gold for Sharing Chargers, Not Building Petrol Stations
Three students turned idle chargers into shared power.
Team EV CHARGESHARE of the Islamic University of Technology won gold in the SDG7 category at the International Blockchain Olympiad. The team also received a bronze medal for placing in the top three. Gold and bronze, from one idea, in one competition.
Their idea is simple. Their decentralised app connects home charging stations to electric vehicles, using blockchain and a peer-to-peer charge-sharing model. A driveway becomes a filling station. An idle plug becomes income, or at least usefulness.
The team is leader Tawsif Zaman, with Ishtiak Ahmed Rafin and Erka Binta Noor. All three study at IUT. IBCOL 2025 was built around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. SDG7 covers affordable and clean energy.
The app is not a petrol station, but rather a neighbour’s driveway with a plug. That is the point. Clean energy need not wait for grand infrastructure. It can start at home, one charger at a time. Plugged-in, practical progress, powered by peers.
