Sixty-One Million for a Voice Without a Human
The most human voice on the phone may soon belong to no human at all.
Giga raised $61 million in a Series A round led by Redpoint Ventures, with Y Combinator and Nexus Venture Partners. The San Francisco startup builds AI agents that handle customer-support calls.
Its founders are Varun Vummadi and Esha Manideep, graduates of IIT Kharagpur. Their agents reason, act and resolve issues in real time.
The agents use advanced natural language processing and contextual memory. They hold realistic conversations with customers. They train on a company’s own knowledge base. They work in complex, compliance-heavy industries like finance and healthcare.
Giga already handles millions of customer calls each month. DoorDash is a client. Escalations fell. Resolutions sped up. The pitch is simple: call centres cost billions, and the experience is still broken.
The new money will grow the technical team and accelerate sales. Global enterprises are the target. The ambition is a foundational layer for customer voice.
The irony is obvious. Machines learned manners before humans fixed hold music. Polite, patient and instant beats rude, rushed and absent.
Investors agree. $61 million says the phone queue is a market, not a nuisance.
